As with an eagle’s nest, this log cabin is nestled high above the trees at an elevation of 600 meters.  It truly is a journey climbing the steep winding driveway to locate the quaint, intimate retreat.  While exploring the property it will quickly become apparent that one night is not enough to truly enjoy the offerings of Eagles Nest Luxury Mountain Retreat.

The Cabin

Built in 1980 from Douglas Fir logs, this one of a kind cabin is homely, warm and inviting.  With a view of the mountains from every window your itinerary need not be full, with gazing at the horizon being top of my activity list.  Exploring the compact yet spacious interior you will come across three double bedrooms on the top level.  All simply appointed to let the wooden panelling evoke images of mountains, snow and The Sound of Music (cue ‘The Hills are Alive’).  The shared bathroom is in keeping with the alpine style boasting a footed tub and pedestal basin.  The shower has room to dance and the attention to detail ensures you emerge exfoliated and smelling like a fresh summer’s day.

Walking into the open plan living area it is easy to see how nights could be lost chatting and enjoying the company of loved ones.  You must stop and collect some supplies on the way to Eagles Nest as this property is fit for a foodie.  Prepare a hearty meal in the well equipped kitchen and enjoy it around the large dining table.  Snack on local cheese and sip your favourite wine by the open fire or prepare pizza in the amazing pizza oven outside.

The Garden

Exploring the garden at Eagles Nest Luxury Mountain Retreat is a wondrous experience.  Not only is the view amazing from the outdoor spa but hike the hill behind the house and delight in what awaits.  A forest that is vast.  It’s beauty complex, reflecting the terror of a day that stole so much.  Like the human spirit it too is repairing and healing from fires that have carved a scar into the hearts of so many.
