Are you time poor, love condiments and sauces and fructose intolerant or following the FODMAP diet? Read on. I have discovered award winning salsas, sauces and chutneys that will blow your taste-buds away. Best of all they are made right here in the Yarra Valley!
Introducing Nogo Sauces:
Made from locally sourced ingredients (where possible) the range from Nogo is jam packed full of flavour and fun. This is a range of condiments and sauces that has been created to be fructose free, gluten free, preservative free and FODMAP friendly. So rest assured that if you have fructose malabsorption this product range is safe for you.
Winning 2 golds and a bronze at the Australian Food Awards 2016 as well as Best New Product at the Gluten Free Expo 2016 this is a brand that has hit the ground running. Launched in April by the vivacious and charismatic Meg Farrell after months of development, Nogo is set to soar in a saturated market. After being diagnosed herself with Fructose malabsorption Megan decided to get to work on a range that would satisfy her taste buds and dietary needs. With a sense of humor, years of cooking experience and a great team behind her it is safe to say she has hit the mark when it comes to flavour, practicality and quirkiness.
Where can you buy Nogo?
Megan has been inundated with requests and inquiries from all over the country! The good news is that there are plenty of stockists within The Valley – De Bortoli, Kitchen and Butcher (Healesville), The Cellar Door (Ringwood). Market lovers can find Nogo at the Farmers Markets at Yering Station and Eastland If you are unable to make the trip to this side of town or live interstate you can order online at nogosauces.com.au.
What I love about Meg:
Megan is a foodie at heart with her food journey starting as a child in the 70’s. Her father would take the children down to VIC market every week and purchase fresh produce, meat and sea food. Once at home the family would set about cooking up a storm. With squid ink pasta and the like being created in the family kitchen it is only natural that Megan would then go on to seek out cooking experiences worldwide. Cooking classes became the ‘norm’ whenever she traveled and only added to her passion to create. Not many of us can say we have cooked in kitchens in Italy, Thailand, Switzerland, France, Indonesia and Morocco.
Meg was only recently diagnosed with Fructose Malabsorption as well as Gluten Intolerance which shattered her food world! Instead of rolling over and just becoming her diagnosis, she set about creating a range of products that would allow her to enjoy her culinary experiences again. With major flavour players such as garlic and onion being eliminated from her ingredients list Meg had to reinvent the wheel. Nogo has become her world for the last year and has brought flavour back for those who are living in a world where garlic, onion and many other staples are no longer allowed to exist.
Although I have no food intolerance’s (that I know of), Nogo provides me with a ‘nasty-free’ alternative to the millions of products out there full to the brim with numbers, preservatives and thickeners. Nogo has become my ‘go to’ for homemade, handmade, chemical free sauces – Thank you Megan for your passion.
