What Am I Doing and Why Am I Doing It?

Inspiration:

There is nothing like travelling to far away lands and experiencing the “oooh’s” and “ahhh’s” their landscapes have to offer. For the last 15 years I have been chasing that first European experience. I have to admit the landscape stole my heart! The beauty of small quaint towns nestled into the foot of the hills with The Rhein River lapping their shores. Not to mention the vineyards perched high above the town walls rolling away as far as the eye can see. Sounds perfect hey?

Imagine my delight when my family moved into the Yarra Ranges. The door to the Yarra Valley was wide open and all I could see was what I loved about Europe. I am blessed beyond words to have set up house at the door-step of Victoria’s wine region. I would love for you to join me as I explore my backyard.

Aim:

You have heard it said ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder’. Well these eyes have had their fair share of beholding. Nothing takes my breath away quite like creation in all its splendour. With every season the landscape changes and beauty is found once again. This time it’s different and appears to highlight an aspect that was not noticed the season before.  So, with my move into this magnificent area igniting my passion and love for the beauty that is all around me, I see it as Yarra Valley Life’s mission to promote the stunning landscape of The Yarra Valley.
So sit back, relax and enjoy the ride as you experience this beautiful south land through my eyes.

Goal:

Quite literally to eat my way through the Yarra Valley. You may think that I am joking, but seriously food is always on my agenda!!!
My family celebrates everything with a feast – birthdays, Sundays, Christmas, Easter, etc. It is a big part of who I am. I will always remember sitting around the table with my cousins laughing and joking, while making a mess of my Nanna’s ‘yellow chicken’. Yellow Chicken? That is what us munchkins were served in place of the Sri Lankan curry our parents were enjoying (It is a chicken dish, flavoured with saffron, onion and aromatics). The table was always laden with extras to pile upon your plate. So celebrating with food has been with me since before I can remember.
Therefore, my goal is to take my love for food and explore all the Yarra Valley has to offer. I will take you to bakeries, restaurants, pubs, breweries, dairies, produce stores, chocolate factories, wineries, farmers markets and the list goes on. Come and feast with me.
